In 2018, Erin graduated from the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Training. The training combines forest bathing, Ayurveda, outdoor skills, and an overview of relevant research on nature’s health benefits. In 2019, Erin assisted the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Training to further her education and experience.

Spending time in nature can be a powerful antidote to the stress of modern living. In the past several decades there have been many scientific studies that are demonstrating the mechanisms behind the healing effects of simply being in wild and natural areas. (Click here for more research). For example, plants and trees give off organic compounds called phytoncides, which help protect them from parasites and disease. (Click here for more information on phytoncides) These compounds are also beneficial for human health, according to some research. Please see a few benefits listed here:

  • Boosted immune system

  • Reduced blood pressure

  • Reduced stress

  • Improved mood

  • Increased ability to focus

  • Increased energy level

  • Improved sleep
